New year – New skills!
Are you a charity worker, campaigner, small business owner, blogger, journalist, comms professional – or practically anyone who needs or wants to make video regularly?
I’m starting up a new venture teaching professional skills that you can use with the phone in your pocket to make high quality video content.
The classes will be held periodically in London but they can also be held at your organisation, anywhere in the world.
What’s the training about?
A one-day training session in how to use your own smartphone to make professional video.
Who is it for?
Campaigners, bloggers, communications professionals, charities, small businesses and journalists – indeed anyone who needs to make video regularly but doesn’t have the access or budget for a production company or film maker.
What will I learn?
In a small group of about nine people you will learn through short tutorials and group/individual hands-on practical exercises:
How to get the best out of available light, how to maximise sound quality and how to get a stable shot every time
Which affordable, easy-to-use smartphone accessories to buy and how to use them to put you on par with professional film makers
What to film and how to shoot sequences in preparation for editing
Which low cost apps you can use on your laptop or smartphone to edit your footage
The principles of editing: how to put shots in order to tell a story or share a message, where to find copy-right free music and how to make titles for your edit.
Storytelling: some easy examples of how to tell your story or message, how to script your video and tips on how to look confident in front of a camera
What do I need to bring?
A smartphone with video making capability, a laptop if you have one.
What is the cost?
£299 full price and a limited number of places at £99 for those on low/no income
What are the benefits?
Learn how to use the dominant language of social media. Video is becoming increasingly popular on all platforms with Mark Zuckerberg predicting that video will soon be the heart of Facebook.
Professional videos can cost from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds to make. With these skills you or your organisation will make back your fee with the very first video that you produce.
Have full control over your message, campaign, product, news story or blog. Don’t rely on someone who doesn’t know your story to tell your story.
Who is running the training?
I’m an award-winning film maker, journalist, broadcaster and communications professional who has worked with major organisations over the last twenty years like the Associated Press Television News, BBC World, CCTV News, Daily Telegraph, Vice News and the United Nations as well as charities and corporate companies.
I want to come but I’m not in London. What can I do?
I offer bespoke training for organisations inside and outside of London – I can come to you! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss.
